the year we start recording family history

Each month in 2022, I will post a writing prompt and challenge you to write at least three different variations on that topic. Don’t worry, I promise to do the same!

Before I forget, I don’t expect (or really want you to be) a wordsmith. Don’t worry about spelling or punctuation. Write on the computer or in a notebook or scraps of paper. This is for you. Your future self will thank your past self one day.

Plants. What role did plants play in your family history? Were there gardens or cut flowers? Funny story about a tree or poison ivy? Is there a flower or plant that makes you think of someone special?

Trips. Big trips/weekend trips. Trips that happened every year or once in a lifetime. Did you ancestors take trips (or where they more “staycations” due to the times?) Pick three and tell me about them.

Songs. Do certain songs remind you of someone or some event? Or maybe a song you have always misheard the lyrics your entire life, write about them.
